Solo

While walking down Upper Liffey St,. I ran into Mathew who was playing Traditional Irish Music. I asked him if he could play two of his favorite traditional Irish songs and has decided to play Spancill Hill and Wild Rover. This video is of the song Spancil Hill which is written in a traditional Irish folk style originally by Michael Considine. It bemoans the plight of the Irish immigrants who so longed for home from their new lives in America, many of whom went to California with the Gold Rush. This song is sung by a man who longs for his home in Spancill Hill, his friends and the love he left there.
